Terms of Use
The ground rules for using SellFee Calculator — what the numbers are, what they aren't, and what you may do with the site. Effective October 18, 2026.
What this site is
SellFee Calculator is an independent, free tool that estimates marketplace selling fees for eBay, Etsy, Poshmark, Mercari and other platforms. It is not an official calculator and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any of those platforms. Results are estimates for planning, not invoices — the fee a platform actually charges is governed by that platform's own terms and official fee pages.
Accuracy, the honest version
- Every rate in the engine is taken from a platform's official fee page, with the source link and verification date shown next to it. See the methodology for how sourcing and testing work.
- Platforms change fees without notice. A rate that was verified last month may already be different. The fee changes log tracks every known change with dates and version numbers.
- Some edge cases are deliberately out of scope (promotions, negotiated rates, non-US processing rates) — these boundaries are listed on the methodology page rather than guessed at.
- We work hard to be exact, but we cannot promise a specific figure matches your next real invoice. If a number looks wrong, tell us and we'll re-verify against the source.
No tax, legal, or financial advice
The tax pages (like the 1099-K guide) summarize publicly reported rules in plain language for general awareness. They are not tax, legal, or financial advice, and reading them does not create a professional relationship. Tax situations vary — for anything that matters to your money (thresholds, deductions, state rules), consult a qualified tax professional such as a CPA.
Acceptable use
The site is free for individual sellers to use as much as they like. What is not allowed:
- Bulk scraping or automated harvesting of pages, rate data, or resources at volumes that degrade the service for others.
- Misrepresenting the results — for example, republishing our numbers as your own official rates or stripping the source attribution.
- Attempting to disrupt the site, its API endpoints, or its infrastructure.
Intellectual property
The site's code, written explanations, and presentation are the property of this project. Fee rates and official policy text belong to the respective platforms; our role is linking to and dating their official pages, which remain the authoritative source. You may quote brief excerpts of our written content with a visible link back — wholesale republication of pages is not permitted.
Limitation of liability
The site is provided as-is, free of charge. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not liable for any loss — including lost sales, lost profits, pricing mistakes, or other business decisions — made in reliance on calculator output or site content. Fee estimates are a starting point for your own verification against the linked official pages, not a substitute for it. Liability for matters that cannot be excluded by law is, to the extent permitted, limited to US $1.
When fees change
Rates update as platforms change them; the version you used last visit may not be the version you get today. There is no obligation to notify users of each change beyond the public changelog — if you need to know the moment something moves, join the rate-alert waitlist on any calculator page.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the effective date at the top updates. Continued use of the site after a change means the current terms apply.
