Australia fee rates by category tier (Pro plans, GST-inclusive)

eBay Australia's final value fee is a matrix: your Pro plan × the item's category tier, with a reduced rate on the portion of each item above A$4,000. Percentages apply to the total amount of the sale (item price + postage + applicable taxes), per item. All rates include 10% GST.

Buyer protection fee explained

Search results for "eBay Australia fees" currently show three different headline numbers — 13%, "zero selling fees", and 13.4%. All three are real, which is exactly why they get mashed together wrongly:

The numberWhat it actually is
13.4%The Pro Starter rate — one flat percentage across all category tiers
11.44% / 8.03%…Paid Pro plans (Basic and up) — lower percentages, monthly fee applies
$0Casual selling: free below A$25,000 trailing 12-month sales, no Pro plan
Buyer-side amountsBuyers may see their own protections/fees on some flows — never deducted from your payout

There is no separate "buyer protection fee" line charged to sellers on eBay Australia today — if a source tells a seller to add one, it's confusing the buyer side or another market's fee.

Free selling: the A$25,000 rule

Register in Australia, run no Pro plan, and stay at or under A$25,000 in sales across the trailing 12 full calendar months → final value fee $0. Cross A$25,000 and eBay auto-assigns Pro Starter from the 1st of the next month. Most categories get 250,000 free listings a month, so listing fees effectively never bind.

GST: what's included

Every rate on this page is GST-inclusive as published. Sellers who provide an ABN and register for tax-exempt buying are charged ex-GST — those ex-GST values are not published, so we don't derive them. eBay's seller currency conversion (payout in another currency) is 3%, rising to 3.25% from 1 November 2026. Not tax advice.

Per-order & insertion fees in A$

Disputes cost $24.20 each; Below Standard and very-high-INAD surcharges add 5.5% (6.6% when sustained 4+ months).
