Private vs business sellers: the big UK fork
UK-registered private sellers sell free — £0 final value fee, no regulatory operating fee (excluding vehicles), 300 free listings a month (35p per extra listing; 400 free with the £19.99 private Shop). The only per-sale charge is a 3% international fee when the buyer's delivery address is outside the UK. Business sellers pay the full table on this page: category FVF + £0.30/£0.40 per-order + 0.35% regulatory operating fee, all ex-VAT. This calculator models the business table — private sellers can read their answer as £0 unless they ship abroad.

Per-order & insertion fees in £
Every business-seller order pays a fixed per-order fee — £0.30 for orders of £10 or less, £0.40 above £10, once per order regardless of item count. Listings without a Shop subscription cost 30p each (no free allocation for business sellers); a Basic Shop at £27/month brings 250 free fixed-price listings, Featured £77/1,500, Anchor £437.
VAT: what it means for your fees
The business-seller rates above are exclusive of VAT — eBay adds 20% UK VAT on your fee invoice, which a VAT-registered business reclaims as input VAT (tick the VAT box in the calculator to see the gross fee cost). Private-seller fees, by contrast, are VAT-inclusive. VAT is never mixed into the base rates on this site. Not tax advice.
Selling across borders from the UK
Business sellers whose buyers are outside the UK pay an international fee on top: 1.05% for Eurozone and Nordic destinations, 1.8% for the US and Canada, 2.0% everywhere else. eBay's seller currency conversion (payouts in another currency) is 2.5%, rising to 2.75% from 1 December 2026. How much does eBay take per sale in the UK?
For a business seller: a category-based final value fee (10.9% for most categories) plus £0.40 per order (over £10) plus a 0.35% regulatory operating fee — ex-VAT. On a £100 order that's £11.65 before VAT. Private sellers pay £0.
Is it free to sell on eBay UK as a private seller?
Yes — UK-registered private sellers pay no final value fee and no regulatory operating fee (vehicles excluded), with 300 free listings a month. Only international sales (delivery address outside the UK) pay a 3% fee.
Does eBay UK charge buyers a fee?
No buyer-side fee applies on ebay.co.uk orders today. The buyer protection fee that exists on eBay Australia is not charged in the UK.
Are these the official ebay.co.uk rates?
Yes — every number comes from ebay.co.uk's own fee pages (business sellers, private sellers), each row stamped with its verification date, 2026-10-20.
What's the best eBay fee calculator UK Reddit recommends?
Sellers on r/eBayUK usually point at whichever calculator handles the per-order fee and the 0.35% regulatory operating fee correctly — most UK calculators miss one of them. This one shows every fee line separately, each linked to the official page, so you can check us.
